VectorCraft 0.12.0, FigCraft development and community notes

VectorCraft 0.12.0 was published October 16 UTC and checked for this October 17 brief. Its release notes cover legacy Illustrator export, browser pen input, a Dimension tool and Linux packaging changes. Separately, a PdfCraft user has followed up on an earlier printer-detection report. Our evening check adds FigCraft’s development documentation and three individual community reports below. No newer official release was found for the thirteen apps or Launcher. Development commits and community experiences are not shipped-feature guarantees or independent tests. Direct Google results, X live search and YouTube’s upload list were inaccessible or throttled during this check; search-index coverage does not establish that those channels had no new posts.

VectorCraft 0.12.0 adds legacy .ai export and browser pen input

Official release notes list legacy .ai export, a Dimension tool, browser Apple Pencil and touch handling, portable mode and an RPM dependency correction. The tagged documentation limits legacy version 7 .ai export to one artboard per file without transparency, and still identifies reliable Illustrator file exchange as a gap. These are project-reported changes, not our independent tests.

What it means for you: Try a copied illustration and reopen exported files in the receiving application. Browser pen input does not establish a native iPad or Android app. The RPM change now appears in a published release, but enforces the libm GLIBC_2.35 requirement rather than making older RHEL systems compatible. Check the 0.12.0 GitHub release; the product page still lists older downloads.

A PdfCraft user reports that an update restored default-printer output

The original poster of the physical-printer detection question replied on October 16 that, after updating, they could print to their default printer. The reply does not specify an app version, operating system or package. This follows the earlier missing-printer report; we have not reproduced the result or linked it to a particular release.

What it means for you: This is encouraging follow-up, not a universal fix for every printer or package, and it does not resolve the separate print-quality report. Retest a single page on your exact setup and record the version, platform and printer if a problem remains. Our October 15 report stays available as the historical context.

FigCraft documents opt-in file-access boundaries for agents

An October 17 development commit documents opt-in read and write folders for MCP and desktop automation. It describes separate --automation-read-root and --automation-write-root flags, refusal of paths outside those folders, and configuration on the desktop app when attaching an MCP client. Without the flags, behavior is unchanged.

What it means for you: This is not a new release: the latest installer remains 0.6.0, whose tagged MCP documentation does not contain these options. Do not assume an installed build supports them. The development docs also exclude the app’s own storage and describe a path-check race; these controls are not a complete operating-system sandbox. Check your exact build before giving an agent access to working files.

A PhotoCraft user traces apparent brush lag to Spacing

A Reddit user described ink appearing only after a minimum pen movement, including with mouse input and without pressure. The author then edited the post to say the brush Spacing setting explained their case and pointed to F5. Their app version and operating system are not specified. We have not independently reproduced the result.

What it means for you: Check brush spacing on a small test canvas before assuming a GPU slowdown. The official 0.9.0 brush documentation lists spacing, but this user’s result does not prove a new fix, a universal shortcut or a solution to all brush latency. If a problem remains, record the version, platform, brush settings and input device for an upstream report.

A PdfCraft user reports a hard-to-see cursor when adding text

A Reddit user reports the cursor turning white over a PDF while placing text; the text itself is described as fine. The app version, operating system and whether this is a browser or desktop build are not specified. We have not independently reproduced the behavior or verified a fix.

What it means for you: A reply suggests browser hardware acceleration, but that is not a confirmed cause. Do not change system settings on that basis alone. Check cursor visibility on a copied document and include the build, display settings and a screenshot in a reproducible issue. This report does not establish damaged PDF text or a problem in every package.

An EffectCraft user reports freezing during rotoscope propagation

A MacBook Pro user reports heat, fan activity and freezing while propagating rotoscope frames, while also saying the result impressed them. The app version, chip, memory and footage specifications are not reported. This is one person’s account, not an independent performance benchmark or a confirmed cause.

What it means for you: Before relying on rotoscoping for a deadline, try a short copy of representative footage and record the version, hardware, frame range and source dimensions. No fix was verified in this check. The report does not establish the same behavior across Macs, operating systems or released builds.
